After
discussing individual desires to create beautiful, healing music, Jandy
and Tahlee decided to blend their talents to produce an album of
relaxation music under the name illume in
essence.
It was in the studio that the magic began. They
began experimenting with tempos, modulations, clicks and subtle effects
entwined with melodic structures to produce relaxing effects in the
music. Whilst producing a number of tracks, both women were also busy
researching ways in which they could improve the relaxing qualities of
their music.
t was during this time that they were contacted by Davida
Pokroy (BA Psych. Hons.) who introduced them to the research of Gerald Oster’s work with auditory beats, which was first published
in Scientific American in October 1973.
"they mastered their own
binaural beat technology"
Jandy and
Tahlee began heavily researching the effects of binaural beats on the
brain and developing their own techniques for producing the sound
technology to create binaural beats. During this time, their earlier
research into their own brain entrainment techniques, were temporarily
sidelined. However, after they mastered their own binaural beat
technology, they incorporated and continued testing the combination of
binaural beat technology with other brain entrainment, with exciting
and surprising results. unison vol 1 was the
first CD to be produced with the combination of beautiful compositions,
binaural beats and other brain entrainment.
Davida Pokroy conducted a trial of unison
CDs with her clients, friends and acquaintances. Positive results were
achieved so quickly, that many people began requesting more and more
copies from Davida. It was this trial that quickly enabled the birth of
Unison Therapy and the distribution of their CDs.
"people began
requesting
more and more copies"
Unison Therapy represents the connection of the left and right brain
hemispheres through meditation; and the combination of the clinical
support of Davida Pokroy and the music of illume in essence. Davida is
a proud endorsee of Unison Therapy products and has no financial vested
interest.
In early 2002, Jandy redirected her extensive musical knowledge towards
audio psychology and began experimenting with and writing relaxation
music. 3 months later, she was approached by the Community Living
Program in Brisbane to produce a piece of relaxation music for a CD and
video designed to help people with different abilities learn to relax.
It was this project that inspired her to begin producing more
relaxation music. Jandy also is a guest lecturer in Psychology at
Queensland University of Technology.
Tahlee Rouillon (B.Mus) began producing electro-acoustic music whilst
studying a Bachelor of Music at Queensland University of Technology
(QUT). She has produced ambient dance music, film soundtracks, music
for video art and for installations but has always had a desire to
produce music for healing. She has also tutored at QUT in “World
Music” and “Music & Sound for
Multimedia”.
